Increase Serotonin to Help Stop Food Cravings and Improve Mood
Tuliv 5-HTP
5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is used by the body to produce serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that has many beneficial effects on the brain. 5-HTP is the immediate metabolite between tryptophan and serotonin, in other words, the body changes tryptophan into 5-HTP and then 5-HTP is converted into serotonin. Generally we get 5-HTP from eating foods that contain tryptophan, such as turkey. Your own diet may not be high in tryptophan.
Serotonin plays an important role in controlling anger, aggression, body temperature, mood, sleep, human sexuality, appetite, and metabolism. The lack or low levels of serotonin are associated with obesity, PMS, migraines, depression, anxiety, insomnia and addictive behavior.
Today's diet, hectic lifestyle, stress and bad eating habits not only lowers serotonin levels in the body, but prevents it from being produced in the amounts needed. Other human nature problems including irritability, aggression, impatience, anxiety and worrying can cause the body to over-deplete serotonin.
Since your body depends on replenishing serotonin from the food you eat, you may not be getting the right stuff to make enough serotonin your brain needs to function properly; not to mention a lack in serotonin makes you crave foods high in fats and carbohydrates, especially when stressed, which causes weight gain, depression, headaches, and muscle aches.
As you can see, it is important to be able to have enough 5-HTP in your body so that serotonin can be produced at an effective rate and level.
Because the human body can have difficulty producing the needed amount of 5-HTP from our diet, our dietary supplement Tuliv -5-HTP, made of the highest quality ingredients, should be considered as part of your dietary supplement program.
How does HTP work to suppress appetite and lose weight?
As serotonin levels increase your hunger and fat cravings diminish, so you don't feel the need or desire to eat more. 5-HTP has been studied for over 30 years and many clinical trials have shown that it also works to lower the number of calories eaten, which aids in weight loss.
One study compared overweight women who took 200 mg of 5-HTP before each meal to those who took a placebo. The women who took the supplement ate 1,084 fewer calories per day and felt less hungry during the day. In another study, women who took 5-HTP lost an average of 10.3 pounds over 12 weeks, compared to 2.2 pounds in the placebo group.
Help with Depression and Anxiety
Other research on 5-HTP has shown that it can be helpful for depression, anxiety, panic disorder, as well as, sleep disorders. It has been reported that 5-HTP seems to show similar effects as SSRI (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors) antidepressants. However, 5-HTP should not be combined with antidepressants (such as an SSRI or MAOI) and if you are seeing a mental health specialist for severe depression or bipolar disorder, you need to consult with him or her before starting on 5-HTP. See references.
Is 5-HTP Safe?
Because it’s a naturally occurring compound in the body, 5-HTP is shown to be safe for short-term use (up to 12 weeks at a time). Those with existing gastrointestinal problems should be cautious when starting on 5-HTP as there are reports of gastrointestinal side effects, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea. When starting, try to ease your body into taking Tuliv 5-HTP by taking a small dose.
In the United States, the nutritional supplement 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) became available over the counter in April of 1995.1 Previously, it was only available by prescription.
Dosage.
Start with 50mg doses, three times per day.
Take it 20-30 minutes before meals. If you don’t think 50 mg is working, you may consider increasing the dose.
Do not take this supplement if you’re already taking antidepressants (such as an SSRI or MAOI) or are seeing a mental health specialist for severe depression or bipolar disorder. 5-HTP has been known to increase suicidal ideation.
Do not take this supplement if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
While it may take a few weeks to really feel a difference, you should be cautious of taking this supplement longer than 12 weeks at a time.
As an appetite suppressant, take 50 mg or more of Tuliv 5-HTP, about 30 minutes before each meal.
For improving sleep, it is widely recommended to take 50 mg of Tuliv 5-HTP 30 minutes before going to bed, as apart from producing serotonin, Tuliv 5-HTP also produces melatonin, which is a sleep-inducing hormone.
For other conditions, use as directed.
Caution: Do not take if you are currently taking drugs for depression or if you are pregnant or nursing.
Price: $15.95 for bottle of 90 capsules.
